$1.5 million grant to support DeForest Kwik Trip distribution center project – WMTV

DEFOREST, Wis. (WMTV) – Gov. Tony Evers, along with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, announced on Monday a $1.5 million Transportation Economic Assistance grant will be awarded to the village of DeForest.

The money will go towards finishing the road construction by the new Kwik Trip distribution center. It also be used to support nearly 400 jobs in South Central Wisconsin.

Gov. Evers said this investment will go beyond the community in Dane County.

“It will help generate jobs, bring in revenue that will bolster our statewide economy, and benefit communities all across the state,” said Evers. “I look forward to seeing the results of this project as we continue our work improving and building the 21st-century infrastructure Wisconsin needs to support a 21st-century economy and improve the quality of life for folks across our state.”

Officials said Kwik Trip distribution center project in Deforest will expand Metro Drive, North Towne Road and Pepsi Way on the village’s west side.

The new facility will also help reduce distribution costs, lower prices for consumers and help the La Crosse center with growing production and delivery operations.

WisDOT Secretary Kristina Boardman said this project reflects how TEA grants have helped the economy grow across the state.

“We are excited to see the village of DeForest succeed with this project and want to thank all local partners involved for their hard work to make this project a reality,” said Boardman.

Over the last five years, officials said the Evers Administration has awarded more than $11.9 million TEA grant that helped create more than 2,200 new jobs.
