10 Craziest Widebody Teslas We've Seen – HotCars

Although Tesla vehicles are seen as status symbols – much like Apple products – for most of the car-buying public, they’ve been slow to gain traction with the enthusiast crowd. Traditional gearheads, favoring raw exhaust noise, mechanical complexity, and

tactile driving experiences
, have historically treated Teslas with skepticism. Moreover, between the

spartan interiors
, the lack of a traditional engine, and the heavy integration of software, the cars are usually dismissed as too sterile or lacking in automotive soul. If anything, enthusiasts view EVs as more of a gadget than a true

performance vehicle
.

As far as automotive giants go, Tesla is comparatively a spring chicken. That said, it has not stopped the manufacturer going from strength to strength since its inception in 2003. Tesla’s electric vehicles have taken the world by storm, and since the debut of their first car model, the Roadster, they have proven that they’re here to stay, thanks to some incredible vehicles like the Model 3, and the Model X, not to mention their performance-oriented Plaid editions.

Take a look through your feed, however, and you’ll see an emerging trend that’s starting to shift this perception. Instagram is abounding with

aftermarket customizers
– digital and real-world – and many have taken their talents to Tesla’s EVs. From air suspension and larger wheels to widebody kits, custom wraps, and massive spoilers, you can find it all. Events

like SEMA
have only encouraged this kind of Tesla treatment, and you’ll find Model 3s and Model Xs lined up next to

certifiable JDM icons
.

As a result, Teslas are beginning to carve out their own unique niche in the

aftermarket scene
. Though they may not replace the appeal of a traditional gas-powered car, their lack of engine allows for a variety of different looks. With this in mind, we scoured the web for the wildest

custom Teslas
around, and here are 10 of the craziest widebody ones we’ve seen.

How we made our selection: HotCars considered a wide variety of Tesla customs, focusing on those with a widebody flair. Though there is no shortage of crazy renders, we wanted to prioritize real-world builds that could be found roaming the streets. We’ve ordered these builds according to post recency and relative completion.

Will.i.am’s West Coast Customs Model S

Details

  • Base Vehicle: Model S
  • Bodykit: West Coast Customs

A few years back, Will.i.am dipped his toes into the car world with his I.AM.AUTO project, and he’s more recently

collaborated with AMG
on a truly wild four-door GT one-off. In his automotive efforts, he’s worked with

West Coast Customs
on a number of far-out designs of his own imagination, and this Model S is certainly one of the more divisive examples. Fittingly dubbed “Spaceship,” it features rocket-worthy skirts and arches, Rolls-Royce-like coach doors, a massive smiling grille, and blacked-out dish wheels. Regardless of how you feel about this P90d’s looks, there’s no denying that it breaks from the traditional Tesla mold.

Hawkjoe Model S

Details

  • Base Vehicle: Model S
  • Bodykit: Unplugged Performance S-Apex

Unplugged Performance has made waves in the industry on account of its Tesla-tuning might, and this particular Model S actually got a feature in Bloomberg as a result. It’s an older build, but we appreciate how it still seems to be seeing regular use.

Along with the S-Apex widebody kit, it also features some carbon ceramic brakes, air suspension, and a white vinyl wrap. It looks as fast as any Model S out there, and the recent

performance mods
like the front splitter and rear wing really set off the track-ready aesthetic.

Daniel Song’s Drvn Mind Model 3

Details

  • Base Vehicle: Model 3
  • Bodykit: Artisan Spirits Black Label

Drvn Mind founder Daniel Song built this 2018 Model 3 and displayed it at the Toyo Tires SEMA booth in 2021, and it’s among the cleanest widebody examples we’ve seen. The body kit comes courtesy of Artisan Spirits, and the EV also wears a chassis-mounted front splitter as well as a Voltex Type 12 rear wing.

Finished in a coat of Black Titanium and riding on some Advan GT wheels, it comes complemented by some bright blue accents on the skirts, the Brembo GT brakes, and the diffuser. Though it started life as the lowest run on the Tesla ladder, the

game-changing Model 3
now looks like a highly modified time attack car, a

Pikes Peak racer
made for grocery runs. Fitting, because it took inspiration from

Evasive Motorsports
, and it features a removable roll-cage.

Josh Christopher’s West Coast Customs Model X

Details

  • Base Vehicle: Model X
  • Bodykit: ZevoZport R-Zentric Model XR

When Miami Heat guard Josh Christopher wanted a new look for his

Tesla Model X SUV
, he turned to West Coast Customs for an eye-catching EV widebody transformation. The team outfitted the SUV with a complete carbon fiber makeover, including a custom hood, fender flares, rocker panels, and a rear diffuser. To complement the bold bodywork, they wrapped the entire car in a sleek matte finish, blacked-out the trim, and tinted the taillights, giving it an understated look

even Bruce Wayne would enjoy
. Riding on a set of custom 22-inch Cymbalo wheels, it’s a stealthy aesthetic that’s made only better by Tesla’s silent drivetrain.

Competition Carbon Model S

Details

  • Base Vehicle: Model S Plaid
  • Bodykit: Competition Carbon SXL

Even if your tastes don’t really align with

Tesla’s electric sedans
, you have to appreciate this Model S transformation that comes courtesy of Competition Carbon. The widebody kit was originally designed by digital artist Kasim Tlibekua, and the carbon fiber bodywork specialist then debuted the look at Sema 2022. We’re especially partial to the front fascia on this one, as it gives the Model S a sleek appearance that’s offset by the massive 7-inch arches at the rear. Though we’re partial to the white and blue of the first Toyo Tires car, the

appearance mods
on this example looks especially crazy with its red bodywork, smoked headlights, and 21-inch wheels.

5

TSK Cyber3 Model 3

Details

  • Base Vehicle: Tesla Model 3
  • Bodykit: TSK Cyber3

TSK’s Cyber3 body kit ranks among the more transformative looks on this list, and the furrowed full-width headlights are sure to make your Model 3 stand out from the crowd. Skewing more like a

Lucid Air
than a Tesla in appearance, the package includes new fenders, bumpers, and headlights, and it requires modifications to the trunk, radiators, and taillights to ensure the makeover seems factory-fit. In the matte green, the gold wheels and center blue and yellow stripes make for a

great livery
, and we’re all for it – even if it betrays the electric sedan’s sleeper qualities.

Shaq’s Effortless Motors Cyberbeast

Details

  • Base Vehicle: Tesla Cybertruck
  • Bodykit: Effortless Motors Carbon Fiber

After LeBron James took issue with Effortless Motors using his name on social media, the ever-enterprising Shaq found an opportunity to order his second Cybertruck. He commissioned the world’s first widebody model – dubbed the Cyberbeast – and Effortless Motors accordingly fitted the truck with carbon fiber arches, 26-inch wheels, and a custom-made seat to fit the former NBA star’s lengthy frame. Dressed in black over black and accented with a red light bar and red underglow, it makes for a menacing expression of Tesla’s futuristic electric pickup – even Elon had to comment.

3

Shaq’s Waido 360 Cybertruck

Details

  • Base Vehicle: Tesla Cybertruck
  • Bodykit: Waido 360 Widebody

As evidenced by his impressive garage, Shaq has a thing for the

futuristic Tesla Cybertruck
. Not content with a Tri-Motor and the carbon fiber widebodied Cyberbeast that also features on this list, he was subsequently “gifted” this example. In return for a Charger Hellcat, Effortless Motors built Shaq the first Waido 360 Widebody. It’s also a wild ride, rolling on 26-inch Forgiato wheels and shod in a shade of deep red. If you ask us, there are a few too many “firsts” being bandied around, but it does prove how good the Tesla truck can look with a bit of color and some added presence.

2

Liberty Walk Model 3

Details

  • Base Vehicle: Tesla Model 3
  • Bodykit: Liberty Walk

Any time you’re rounding up some eye-catching widebodies, you can expect

Liberty Walk
to make the cut. The Japanese tuning outfit has polarized enthusiasts with its bold builds, as it’s even put its trademark spin on the likes of iconic cars such as the

Ferrari F40
and

Lamborghini Miura
. In the case of this Tesla, Liberty Walk made the facelifted Model 3 look sleeker and also considerably more aggressive. The expansive arches, Advan Racing five-spoke wheels, and duck-tail spoiler really add to the sporty look, while the bagged suspension almost makes it seem like the electric sedan is silently hovering.

Shambagged3 Model 3

Details

  • Base Vehicle: Tesla Model 3
  • Bodykit: CMST Tuning

This wild technocolor Model 3 from @shambagged3 offers a radical departure from Tesla’s understated electric sedan, and we’re here for it. If you can look beyond the

bright wrap
and bold graphics, you’ll find the build includes a CMST carbon fiber widebody kit, some Advan wheels, and a towering rear wing with a built-in light bar. As if that wasn’t enough, the car recently donned a color-matched roof box, so it makes up for the lack of storage – the frunk is filled with faux gas pump paraphernalia. For a near-silent EV, it’s an undeniably loud car, but it’s one that appeals to our

love of art cars
.
