ROYERSFORD, PA — State Sen. Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) announced that eight projects across Senate District 44 have been awarded over $2.5 million in state funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund. The grants, approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority earlier this week, aim to enhance infrastructure, improve safety, and support economic development across the region.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund, established to encourage local economic growth and develop reliable transportation systems, provides critical financial support for improving pedestrian safety, repairing infrastructure, and enhancing roads. Muth emphasized the significance of these investments, particularly in light of the area’s growing population.
“As population continues to grow across SD44, it is imperative that the Commonwealth continues to fund local projects that improve the condition of our transportation infrastructure to ensure that our roads and intersections are safe for drivers and pedestrians,” she stated. “This $2.5 million investment across our region will make an impact in the quality and safety of our roads and ultimately our communities.”
Among the projects awarded grants in Chester County are:
- $450,000 for Caln Township to install streetlights and a bike lane along Lincoln Highway (US-30 Business).
- $450,000 for Parkesburg Borough to rehabilitate West First Avenue.
- $377,000 for Schuylkill Township to design improvements at Pothouse Road and West Bridge Street/Charlestown Road Intersection.
- $375,000 for PT Phoenixville to upgrade the intersection of Valley Forge Road and South White Horse Road.
- $350,000 for East Coventry Township to rehabilitate Ellis Woods Road Bridge.
- $100,000 for Spring City Borough to enhance crosswalk locations along Main Street.
Montgomery County projects receiving funding include:
- $250,000 for pedestrian safety upgrades and trail connections at Hopwood Road in Upper Providence Township.
- $225,000 for streetscape enhancements along Main Street and Walnut Street in Royersford Borough to support the Nelson Ice Cream Factory Redevelopment Project.
Muth also highlighted the collaboration with House representatives from SD44 to ensure funding priorities align with community needs. The grants are expected to deliver long-term safety benefits while enhancing the region’s infrastructure.
With these investments set to move forward, the funded projects are anticipated to bolster the quality of life for local residents while supporting continued regional growth and development.
