2025 Tesla Model 3 arrives with 700+km range – carsales.com.au

Best-selling EV raises the bar for range but for now it’s only limited to the UK market

The new 2025 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive has been launched in Europe and is claimed to come with an incredible driving range of up to 702km on the stringent European WLTP test cycle.

Beating the Polestar 2 that, until now led the segment with its ability to cover up to 654km on a single charge.

Slotting into the line-up above the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive but below the Long Range All-Wheel Drive, until now the biggest 75kWh battery has only been combined with the dual-motor versions.

Losing the front driven axle sees the small sedan average an impressive 12.5kWh/100km.

Full specification of what drives the long-distance Model 3 has yet to be revealed but the British Tesla retail site has stated it is almost a second quicker 0-60mph (0-97km/h) with a 4.9 second sprint, suggesting it will produce lots more power than the 208kW entry version.

In the UK the first deliveries of the Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive begin from November.

If you’re wondering why the UK gets the new Model 3 derivative first, it’s because it sources its Teslas from the Berlin-Brandenburg factory while Australia gets its cars from the Shanghai-based Gigafactory.

No announcement has been made yet if the new derivative will be offered Down Under but it’s thought likely as the new carhas already been heralded in the UK press as one of the best price-to-range electric cars money can buy, although selling at £44,990 ($A87,500), the British Tesla Model 3s are no bargain.

Currently, in Australia the Long Range AWD costs just $64,900, which equates to just $70,318 drive-away in states like NSW, before subsidies.
