The finalists were selected by a jury of 96 distinguished automotive journalists from around the globe, who evaluated eligible vehicles as part of their ongoing work. KPMG tabulated the results, which showcase some of the most innovative and high-performing cars of the year.

The top three finalists for each category are as follows:
- World Car of the Year: BMW X3, Hyundai Inster/Casper Electric, Kia EV3
- World Electric Vehicle: Hyundai Inster/Casper Electric, Kia EV3, Porsche Macan Electric
- World Luxury Car: Porsche Macan, Porsche Panamera, Volvo EX90
- World Performance Car: BMW M5, Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, Porsche Taycan Turbo GT
- World Urban Car: BYD Seagull/Dolphin Mini, Hyundai Inster/Casper Electric, Mini Cooper Electric
- World Car Design: Kia EV3, Toyota Land Cruiser/Land Cruiser 250, Volkswagen ID. Buzz
A special design panel reviewed each vehicle before the jurors cast their votes. The panel included notable experts from around the world, such as Anja Bracht, Gert Hildebrand, Tom Matano, Victor Nacif, and Shiro Nakamura.
As part of the 20th year of collaboration with the New York International Auto Show, the World Car Awards will be celebrated during the opening media breakfast. The event will mark the beginning of the show’s 125th anniversary celebrations.
