We could be set to see the best flip phone of 2025 launch next week, if a recent post from Motorola pans out.
The company’s US X account recently posted a teaser for a launch event taking place on 24 April. That’s next Thursday.
Alongside a brief animation of a compact foldable device opening and closing (and spinning – lots of spinning) sits the line: “When the ordinary flips to the extraordinary.”
Why we’re excited for Motorola’s flip phone launch
There’s really no mystery over what this teaser post portends. Motorola is going to launch the Motorola Razr 60 and Motorola Razr 60 Ultra next Thursday.
Which is extremely exciting, considering the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra – aka the Razr+ (2024) – is our current pick as the best foldable phone on the market.
Motorola’s foldable pips the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 to the post with its expansive 4-inch cover screen, solid battery life, and crisp software.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that the Motorola Edge 60 Ultra is going to follow suit, of course. However, early reports point to a solid (if somewhat safe) upgrade.

What we’re expecting to see form the Razr 60
Initial Razr 60 Ultra rumours suggest a phone with a similar design and 6.9-inch pOLED display to its predecessor. That’s no bad thing in either case.
The Ultra model could receive a significant performance boost. While the Razr 50 Ultra was a little off the pace with its Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, the Razr 60 Ultra is expected to feature the cutting edge Snapdragon 8 Elite.
It should also feature a larger 4,275mAh battery, as well as an identical camera set-up of a 50Mp main lens and a 50Mp telephoto.
The Motorola Razr 60, meanwhile, is expected to feature a 6.7-inch internal display, an improved MediaTek Dimensity 7400X chip, a 4,500mAh battery, and a 50Mp wide / 13Mp ultrawide camera set-up.
Will the Ultra offering be enough to retain the foldable crown in 2025? With rumours of a much improved Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, it’s going to be a particularly fascinating flip phone face-off.
