Last night’s episode of The Traitors was the most explosive yet, taking the backstabbing to another level. But among all the drama, yet another game twist was planted.
Once the banishment at the roundtable had concluded, Claudia dropped the bomb to the remaining contestants that one player will win “an extraordinary power never seen before” that could “turn the entire game on its head”.
As the host used the word “win”, we assume that this power will be up for grabs during a mission – like a shield – or as an extra task. The question is, what is it?
We’ve taken a close look at theories online to give the three most likely options for this new power. You can also reflect on the top ten best moments from the show overall ahead of the final episode tomorrow.
The Seer ability
The most popular theory at the moment is that the show will introduce a role revealing power. This is similar to the Seer, seen in the hit game Werewolves, the format that The Traitors is largely based on.
This is because a user on Reddit spotted during a transition shot that there was a book titled ‘The Seer’ that was focused on for a little while.
In the game Werewolves, a Seer can choose one player to find out the true identity of – so they can discover for real if they’re a villager (innocent) or a werewolf. In this competition, they’d discover whether the person they nominated is actually a Faithful or a Traitor.

While this new ability may seem overpowered, tonight’s roundtable will be the final one where players must announce their true identity when they leave. So, it could cause chaos – one person may try to reveal their knowledge, but in theory, a Traitor could jump in and pretend that they’re the Seer to throw other players off and cause more doubt.
Equally, if a Traitor wins that power, they could use it to ask a Faithful whom they know won’t suspect them, gaining a powerful ally in the final episode.
Another reason this theory is so plausible is that season 3 of Les Traîtres (AKA The Traitors France) offered this role revealing power in the penultimate episode of the game. The person who gained the power had the option to invite one other player for a face-to-face meeting where they had to disclose what they actually were.
We’ve often seen international versions pull gameplay elements from each other, so this would make sense.
The Dagger – Double vote
A less radical option, but also something seen on Les Traîtres and numerous other international versions, is the option to gift someone the option to vote twice at the roundtable in the form of a physical dagger, won in the armoury.
This item is particularly valuable towards the end of a competition, where every vote matters. With only six players remaining, the likelihood of a banishment being won on just a few votes is high.
Plus, if the vote is deadlocked (and it could be if nobody is murdered due to a shield protection), then this could essentially be a deciding vote that will knock a player straight out of the game.

Send someone through to the final
The other possible twist is the option for a player to choose someone to send straight through to the final, avoiding not just murder but banishment, too.
Alexander and Fozia were both exempt from banishment went they first entered the castle, which may have contributed to some of the initial suspicions around them.
If someone were given the power to ‘save’ another player, regardless of their role, it could create heaps of tension going into the final game. People may question why that alliance was chosen, or why they weren’t picked over somebody else.
Of course, this power is something we’ve not seen on international versions… though Claudia did say the ability was “never seen before”. However, she’s probably referring solely to the UK version of the show.
Fortunately, we don’t have long to wait. The penultimate episode of The Traitors UK season 3 airs tonight on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
