Samsung Galaxy S22 series already getting One UI 6.1.1 in Korea

The long-awaited One UI 6.1.1 update is now rolling out to more eligible Galaxy devices. The experience has been mostly positive, except for the Galaxy S23 Ultra users whose devices’ camera quality worsened due to a bug. Anyway, it seems that now it’s the turn of Galaxy S22 series owners to receive the goodness of One UI 6.1.1 (hopefully without bugs).

In recent weeks, Samsung’s attention has been focused on One UI 6.1.1. The company even delayed the first beta of One UI 7 in order to speed up the rollout of the pending update. If you’re not aware, One UI 6.1.1 is an intermediate update that brings performance optimizations, quality of life (QoL) improvements, and some AI-powered features to older Galaxy models.

One UI 6.1.1 reportedly reaching Galaxy S22 devices, first in Korea

Like in other Galaxy phones, Korean users are getting the update first. X user @theonecid shared a screenshot of the One UI 6.1.1 update changelog. While the screenshot is in Korean, the phrase “Galaxy AI” is clearly visible. So, users of Galaxy flagships from previous years are also getting some artificial intelligence-powered love. Since Samsung started the rollout in Korea, users in other regions should receive the update in the coming weeks.

The One UI 6.1.1 changelog mentions that the Galaxy S22 series is getting the “sketch to image” feature. The latter uses the power of Gen AI to turn sketches into complex artworks. You can use “sketch to image” from Samsung’s Notes, Photos, Smart Select, and Edge Panel apps. There’s also a new feature to transform existing photos according to different styles.

Samsung debuted One UI 6.1.1 on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 as a prelude to One UI 7. Leaks claim that the upcoming Android 15-based firmware will bring the biggest One UI aesthetic change in years. However, Samsung is reportedly saving some impressive new features for One UI 7.1. The company would launch One UI 7.1 along with the Galaxy S25 series in early 2025.
