Apple responds to conspiracy theories about the latest iPhone

Just days after releasing the latest version of the iPhone, Apple has issued an update for the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The sudden alert about an update confused many iPhone users, and even sparked conspiracy theories.

Some suggested the sudden and unnamed update on the newest phones could be malware – but it’s not.

The sudden update is because the first batch of the newest iPhones shipped before iOS 18 was released.

Since the newer software isn’t recognised by the iPhone 16 – since it wasn’t installed when they shipped – some phones are recognising the new software as an update, even though it isn’t.

The update is so small that it doesn’t take up much space, Apple said.

Apple said: ‘This update provides important bug fixes and security updates for iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.’

All the phone’s major new features – as well as the new AirPods and Apple Watch – were revealed at the event entitled ‘It’s Glowtime’.

The new model introduced a new, touch sensitive camera button on the side, which also allows easier control of the camera such as zoom.

But the company has now announced its Apple Intelligence (which also contracts as AI – get it?) which it has already said will be ‘built into your iPhone, iPad and Mac to help you write, express yourself and get things done effortlessly’.

It boasted it will ‘draw on your personal context while setting a brand-new standard for privacy in AI’ and will be used to make its Siri voice control feature more natural.
