Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is a $650 sub-flagship with a 120 Hz display, triple cameras, and 7 years of OS updates – Liliputing

When the Samsung Galaxy S24 smartphone family launched earlier this year, starting prices ranged from $800 for an entry-level Samsung Galaxy S24 to $1300 for a Galaxy S24 Ultra. Now there’s a cheaper option.

The new Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is a $650 smartphone that packs many of the same features as its pricier siblings. But Samsung shaved a few corners in order to keep the price low.

Samsung’s new mid-range smartphone is powered by a Samsung Exynos 2400e processor rather than a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. And while it has a 6.7 inch AMOLD display with refresh rates up to 120 Hz, like the Galaxy S24+, the new Galaxy S24 FE has a lower screen resolution and only supports 60 Hz or 120 Hz refresh rates rather than the 1-120 Hz supported by the other Galaxy S24 series phones.

Still, there are some nice-to-have features that you don’t often find in a $650 phone including a rear camera system that includes a primary camera, a wide-angle camera, and a telephoto camera (something that’s often reserved for higher-priced phones). And Samsung is also promising 7 years of software and security updates, which means that if you buy an Samsung Galaxy S24 series smartphone it should continue to receive updates through 2031.

Samsung says the Galaxy S24 FE will be available for order starting October 3, 2024.
