Algiers Charter students without school bus transportation until Thursday, officials say – FOX 8 Local First

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Algiers Charter announced its students would be without school bus transportation until Thursday, due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

A statement from a charter spokesperson did not elaborate on the nature of the problem, except to mention a wait for the arrival of “necessary mechanical parts.”

“We understand this may cause challenges for many of our families, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience,” the statement said. “Algiers Charter leadership is actively working with a neighboring bus provider for transportation solutions until the necessary mechanical parts arrive. In the meantime, we encourage parents to continue to arrange transportation for their children to and from school.

“We are doing everything we can to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and anticipate bus services to resume on Thursday (Oct. 3).”

The charter said teachers will continue to post assignments in Google Classroom for students unable to attend school to keep up with lessons remotely.

“Rest assured, all Algiers Charter students will be given time to make up any missed work upon their return,” the statement said. “All parent/caretaker questions and assistance requests should be directed to the respective front offices of Algiers Charter students’ school sites.”
