If I had had the money back when I chose to go for a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, I would have more seriously considered equipping myself with an Oppo Find X5 Pro. That device was a beast by every measure and the last flagship device that Oppo felt global audiences deserved the right to enjoy.
However, with the imminent Oppo Find X8 series, rumor has it that the device is going to find its way onto an international stage, which would be amazing if true. With that in mind, it’s great to see some of the specs for the upcoming device leaked, as well as a good look at the rear of the device.
The Oppo Find X8 Is Going To Bring A Lot Of Changes Over Its Predecessor
Shoutout to Yogesh Brar over on X, as he brings us the first major list of leaked specs for the Oppo Find X8. Honestly, the device looks like an exciting one and if I was in the market for a new device, I’d definitely find myself considering it very strongly.
The Find X8 marks yet another device leaving the world of curved screens and adopting a flat unit, a 6.6-inch AMOLED model with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device will run on ColorOS 15, based on Android 15; and everything will be powered by MediaTek’s newest—the Dimensity 9400. There’ll be a 5,700 mAh battery, 80W wired charging, and 50W wired charging. It’ll also have a triple 50MP camera setup and a 32W selfie camera.
Compared to the Oppo Find X7, the device will be moving to a smaller screen, though being flat this time around, it might not be too much of a big deal. It also means that the 3x telephoto steps down from a 64MP unit (though of course, that doesn’t mean a drop in quality). The battery gains 700 mAh though and wireless charging is added to the mix. Those trade-offs are worth the drop from 100W fast charging.
The Oppo Find X8 Series Might Be The First In A While Gearing For An International Launch
The Oppo Find X8 lineup is going to be the next major device series from Oppo, OnePlus’s sibling in the smartphone world, and it is expected to show up in China in a few days. October 21st is the date rumored.
The best part is that rumor has it that in a couple of months after that, the Find X8 smartphones are going to find their way to international markets, instantly making them a lot more compelling than previous Find devices.
Here’s A Look At The Back Of The Oppo Find X8; It Loses Some Of That Wow Factor
Over on Weibo, an image of the back panel of the Oppo Find X8 was leaked, showing off a round camera module positioned in the center of the upper part of the back panel. The rest of the rear is flat, giving for a pretty simple and clean look.
However, the problem that I have with that is that the device ends up looking painfully basic. This is meant to be one of the meanest flagships in the game but it ends up looking unremarkable.
Compared to the Oppo Find X7, which was bound to catch stares wherever it went, this one just doesn’t have that oomph I’m looking for. However, the Oppo Find X7 had its plain glass-backed models and also had the dual-toned ones with vegan leather, so maybe those will be available too. Fingers crossed.
