Garmin Lily 2 Active brings GPS, side buttons & more battery life

The wearables segment goes beyond Wear OS and Apple Watch devices. There’s also a niche for watches and bands focused solely on high-precision sports and health monitoring, ditching complex operating systems in favor of lightweight, easy-to-use firmware. Garmin is one of the top names in the sports smartwatch segment. Now, the company has announced the Garmin Lily 2 Active, an upgraded version of the Lily 2.

The Garmin Lily 2 arrived earlier this year as a women-centric smartwatch that focused on design and functionality. The new “Active” version of the watch includes improvements that make it even more suitable for sports activities. The main improvements are in the GPS, physical buttons, battery life, and sport apps.

Garmin Lily 2 Active announced with several improvements

If you’re not aware, the original Garmin Lily 2 doesn’t feature built-in GPS. That means it’s less autonomous, forcing you to always carry your smartphone with you if you want to track your routes while running or walking. However, the Garmin Lily 2 Active solves the problem by adding GPS support for those who need it.

The Lily 2 also didn’t have any physical buttons to control the UI. So, you had to always resort to the touchscreen, which could make it difficult to use in certain situations, such as when your hands are wet. The two new physical buttons on the side of the Garmin Lily 2 Active make for a more convenient user experience. The buttons are slim and well-integrated into the design, so you don’t have to worry about the watch looking worse.

Garmin also made significant improvements to the battery life of the Lily 2 Active. The new model boasts up to nine days of battery life, which nearly doubles what the Lily 2 offered.

As if that weren’t enough, the new smartwatch also includes software improvements. The company integrated new apps focused on tennis, pickleball, indoor cycling, and golf. There are also “on-screen workouts” that can be downloaded directly from the watch screen. Customers will have access to free adaptive training plans through Garmin Coach. You’ll also find features that were already present in the original version. These include Body Battery, Sleep score, Garmin Pay, and syncing with the Garmin Connect app.

Price and availability

The Garmin Lily 2 Active is now available for $299.99 in Lunar Gold, Silver, and Jasper Green colorways. This is only $50 more than the original version, so it seems like a pretty decent deal for fans of Garmin products.
