Sony has given its popular BRAVIA 8 OLED TVs their first discount since launch a few months ago. The 55-, 65- and 77-inch models are all discounted right now. These are their first discounts, so naturally they are at all-time lows. Here’s how the pricing breaks down among the three sizes.
The Sony BRAVIA 8 is actually my favorite Google TV set right now. It’s an OLED TV, so as you might expect, it has an incredible viewing experience, with impressive black levels and true-to-life colors. Sony has also focused on energy savings with the Bravia 8 (as well as the BRAVIA 3,7 and 9 models), which helps with your electric bill. It doesn’t affect the picture quality other than making the TV dimmer. Which does get pretty bright in the first place.
I reviewed the Bravia 8 pretty recently, and I absolutely love it. Is it the best OLED on the market? No. But the experience is unmatched in all aspects. Sony talked a big game about the “Cinema coming home” with this year’s TVs, and it’s true. It has come home. I watched quite a few movies on this TV, and it was incredible.
Google TV is running on this TV, as mentioned before, and it actually works really well. One major problem with TVs running Google TV is the performance. A lot of the time, the software starts to get very laggy and slow. That’s not a problem on BRAVIA 8, it stays very snappy, no matter how many apps you have opened.
I believe that the sweet spot for this TV is the 65-inch model, but you really can’t go wrong with any of the 3 sizes. Of course, if you have the space, the 77-inch model is going to look incredible.
