CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Tree falls onto moving car in Florida during Hurricane Milton – WJXT News4JAX

DELAND, Fla. – A DeLand police officer captured video of a driver escaping injury Wednesday when a tree fell on top of a vehicle hours before Hurricane Milton was to make landfall in Florida, WKMG reported on Wednesday.

On Facebook, the police department said the officer was driving behind another car on Clara Avenue when the tree “suddenly fell.”

“Thankfully, the drive is OK, but this is a reminder that conditions will continue to deteriorate as Hurricane Milton impacts Florida,” the post reads.

The car’s windshield was heavily damaged by the falling tree.

Milton made landfall in Florida on Wednesday night. The storm is forecast to move through Central Florida before heading into the Atlantic.

In the meantime, DeLand police urged residents to shelter in place. A countywide curfew is set to take effect in Volusia County at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
