Another October Launch: Honor Magic 7 Confirmed For The 30th

If you have a phobia of smartphone launches, then October lives up to its reputation as the scariest of months. There are going to be a lot of launches of flagship smartphones this month and I feel like a kid in a candy store. It’s going to be exciting.

We had word that the Honor Magic 7 series was going to launch this month but now, Honor has officially confirmed that will be the case. The Magic 7 lineup will become official on October 30th, and the company plans to show off its take on Android 15 a full week before then.

In recent years, I’ve become an advocate for devices that don’t get as much attention as they deserve. When people ask me for phone recommendations, they usually expect to hear Google or Samsung, but there are too many fantastic devices out there to limit yourself. For instance, the Honor Magic 6 lineup. Those were amazing phones. Needless to say, I’ve been excited to see what Honor will do next and I won’t need to wait long.

The Honor Magic 7 is the next flagship family expected from the Chinese manufacturer and thanks to a post on Weibo, it has just confirmed that device is going to be arriving on October 30th. That’s just a little over two weeks away. I’m certainly looking forward to that.

The Honor Magic 7 smartphones are expected to build off of what the company did with their predecessors; moving up to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. Though considering how popular the Dimensity 9400 is amongst manufacturers, that wouldn’t be a shocking choice either.

Honor Will Also Show Off MagicOS 9, Based On Android 15, On October 23rd

New flagships aren’t the only thing that Honor wants to present to us this month. A week before the Honor Magic 7 smartphones launch, October 23rd, the company is going to present its take on Android 15—MagicOS 9.0. If you’ve got an Honor phone right now, that’s certainly going to be exciting news. Android 15 launched later than expected this year, but OEMs are doing a good job of pushing their own versions relatively quickly.

We don’t know too much about MagicOS 9.0 beyond what should have been obvious—AI is going to play a massive part. In Honor’s case, to go head-to-head with Google Gemini and Apple Intelligence, its new OS is going to be coming with the regularly named AI Agent. We know a little bit about what we can expect this new software feature to do based on a demo that was done at IFA Berlin this year.

In case you’re wondering exactly what is going on in the video, let me break it down. Most of these personal assistants have the power to launch an app if you tell them to. However, what AI Agent does differently is it brings the power to actually perform actions in an app. Imagine telling it to turn off dark mode in an app and it figures out how to do that on its own.

It remains to be seen if it’ll need support for certain apps or whether it will be able to navigate on the fly, but if it works the way it looks like it does in the video, that’ll certainly be a notable feature.
