Apple might launch smart glasses & AirPods with cameras in 2027

Apple is reportedly working to bring multiple vision-based products to the market in a couple of years. The Cupertino giant could launch the Apple smart glasses and AirPods with cameras in 2027. Besides, the company is also working to land a lower-end Apple Vision headset next year and the second-gen Apple Vision Pro in 2026.

Apple to reportedly launch smart glasses and AirPods with cameras in 2027

The latest news comes via the popular Apple insider, Mark Gurman, who detailed the company’s product plan in his recent Power On newsletter. Per the latest report, Apple’s Vision Products Group is currently working on at least four devices. Interestingly, one such device is smart glasses.

If the reported Apple smart glasses launch in 2027, they’ll be a direct competitor to Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. Gurman says that the company wants to utilize some of its multi-billion-dollar investment in Vision Pro’s visual intelligence technology. To remind you, Apple has already showcased this tech using the latest iPhone 16 at the “Its Glowtime” event held in early September. Therefore, it’ll be interesting to see the price of those glasses.

Apple reportedly also plans to launch AirPods with in-built cameras in 2027. According to Gurman, the company is currently experimenting with the form factor for visual intelligence features. That said, there’s no mention of its design or how it would work in real life.

A cheaper Apple Vision headset might be coming next year

Mark Gurman also says that Apple could launch a low-end Vision headset costing around $2000 as early as next year. Per the report, the lower-end headset could use an “inferior” processor and “cheaper” materials. While there’s no mention of which processor Apple would use, Gurman claims that the cheaper headset would lack the EyeSight feature.

For the uninitiated, that feature lets others see the user’s eye from outside the headset. In addition, Apple is reportedly expecting the lower-end Vision headset to sell twice that of the Apple Vision Pro.

Previously, there were reports about the halt in the production of the second-generation Apple Vision Pro headset considering a lack of interest among buyers due to its expensive price. Gurman, in the report, points out the same. However, he mentions that the second-generation Apple Vision Pro headset might launch in 2026 with a faster processor.
