Is Your Google Pixel Getting The Android 15 Update?

If you’re a Google Pixel enthusiast, I’m sure this year was annoyingly and disappointingly different than usual. It’s natural to expect the newest version of Android to come baked right into the new Pixel smartphones, but that wasn’t the case this year; likely because the new Pixels launched ahead of their usual schedule.

Well, after over two months since the Google Pixel 9 series was released, Google has finally started rolling out its Android 15 update. The good thing is that the update isn’t just for Pixel 9 owners and older Pixel users will be able to install Android 15. Is your Google Pixel on the list? Let’s find out.

Delay is not denial, and despite the fact that the Android 15 update took a while to get to people with the newest Pixel phones, all is forgotten now that it is finally here. Yep, Google has started rolling out Android 15 to many of its devices. It’s a little annoying that Vivo was able to beat Google as the first to push Android 15 to consumers but I suppose it doesn’t matter if you do it late, as long as you do it well.

If you have any of the following Google Pixel devices, you’ll be able to install Android 15, so rejoice.

  • Pixel 9 Pro Fold
  • Pixel 9 Pro XL
  • Pixel 9 Pro
  • Pixel 9
  • Pixel 8 Pro
  • Pixel 8
  • Pixel 8a
  • Pixel 7 Pro
  • Pixel 7
  • Pixel 7a
  • Pixel 6 Pro
  • Pixel 6
  • Pixel 6a
  • Pixel Fold
  • Pixel Tablet

From the list above, Google is taking Android 15 compatibility all the way back to 2021 when the Pixel 6 series came out—notably, that was the generation that changed the Pixel’s design language to what it is now.

The magic of OTA updates makes installing new smartphone software shockingly easy, and if you’re a long-time Android user, you almost definitely know how.

Under most circumstances, you’ll get a notification telling you that an update is available, and clicking that will take you to a prompt to start downloading it. However, in some instances, a notification doesn’t show up and you’ll need to manually check to see if one is available. Doing that is easy. Just follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on a compatible Google Pixel device.
  2. Look through the menu and select “System”.
  3. Tap on “Software updates”.
  4. Your device will search for an update and if one is found, it’ll give you the chance to download and install it.
