Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition launch date has been confirmed

Following several inaccurate rumors, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition launch date has just been confirmed. A well-known tipster, Ice Universe, shared an official invitation from Samsung. October 21 is mentioned in the invite, which straight-up confirms the launch date.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition launch date is set for October 21

Now, this is a video invite, and you can check it out below. Samsung does not specifically mention the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition name in it, but Ice Universe confirmed that’s what this is about.

You’ll also notice that the word ‘Unpacked’ is not mentioned either. That also makes sense, as this is not yet another Unpacked event from Samsung. This phone will be released in limited markets, seemingly only in China and Korea. The two Unpacked events we get have both passed this year.

We have revealed the design of the phone, exclusively

We’ve exclusively revealed the design of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in early September The phone will have flat front and back, while its frame will also be flat. Three cameras will still sit on the back, but the camera island will look a bit different this time around.

The phone’s cover display will include a centered display camera hole. The physical buttons will be located in their usual spots, on the right-hand side. This phone is expected to be considerably lighter and thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

It will be considerably thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6

It will measure 4.9mm when folded, and 10.6mm when unfolded. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, on the other hand, measures 5.6mm when unfolded, and 12.1mm when folded. That may not seem like much, but it’s something you’ll easily feel.

We’re not sure about the weight just yet, but it will be lighter. The main (foldable) display on the phone will measure 8 inches, while the smaller one will measure 6.5 inches. This smartphone could yet have a different name, like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition. We’re not sure.
