HUAWEI HarmonyOS Next to Launch on October 22 with Nova 13 Series – Pokde.Net

HUAWEI’s long-anticipated HarmonyOS Next is set to make its commercial debut on October 22, a date that also aligns with the rumored launch of the Nova 13 series. This marks a significant milestone for HUAWEI’s software ecosystem, as the company moves forward with its own operating system, completely independent of Android.

A Break from Android

Unlike previous versions of HarmonyOS, HarmonyOS Next will abandon the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and drop support for Android applications. Instead, HUAWEI is building its OS from the ground up, using its in-house microkernel operating system based on the OpenHarmony open-source core. This change is set to give users a more unified and secure experience, tailored specifically for HUAWEI devices.

To support this transition, HUAWEI has been hard at work building a robust app ecosystem. Reports suggest that HarmonyOS Next will launch with over 10,000 apps and services, many of which were developed with the help of the Ark Compiler and HUAWEI Mobile Services (HMS). While visually similar to the current HarmonyOS, the new version is designed to function seamlessly without the need to run Android apps, focusing entirely on its self-developed platform.

A Unified Experience

HUAWEI promises a seamless unified architecture with HarmonyOS Next, allowing for better interconnectivity between devices, cloud integration, and support across various device form factors. This system will provide a smooth and consistent experience whether you’re using a smartphone, tablet, or another smart device.

As HUAWEI continues to build its ecosystem, HarmonyOS Next could prove to be a major turning point in the tech giant’s post-Android strategy. Be sure to keep an eye out for more updates on the October 22 launch.

Pokdepinion: Truly moving away from Android is scary but this might be the thing HUAWEI needs to really take the company to the next level. I’m personally excited to see as it would be a major breath of fresh air.
