Personal AI brings offline assistants to Snapdragon X-powered PCs

The tech industry has already embraced artificial intelligence, and its future looks bright. Personal assistants with advanced capabilities are among the main AI-based products. While some assistants cater to a wide range of tasks, others are specifically designed for the business environment. That is the case of Personal AI, which now boasts integration in Snapdragon X-powered ARM laptops.

In modern assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot (among others), users can ask questions about practically anything. This enhances the user experience significantly on mobile devices. However, when answering requests, these assistants require greater computing power due to their reliance on Large Language Models (LLMs), which results in constant use of cloud servers.

Personal AI in Snapdragon X-powered laptops enables offline assistants for businesses

On the other hand, Personal AI has a purely offline approach and focuses on specific key functions within a company. To achieve this, Personal AI relies on Small Language Models (SLMs), which are specially designed for this type of use case. The “assistant” allows companies and organizations to create “AI Personas” trained in a specific field of the company. These assistants are trained only with internal company content. However, they can still process requests based on natural language. Their main goal is to enhance the performance of work teams.

The product’s ability to operate completely offline is particularly crucial. After all, organizations prioritize privacy as a critical aspect. Using a cloud-based AI could lead to potential data breaches at some point. “By leveraging the NPU capabilities of Snapdragon, we’re able to run our models directly on-device, ensuring that sensitive data never leaves the user’s hardware,” said Suman Kanuganti, CEO and co-founder of Personal AI.

Personal AI announced the integration of its AI Personas on Snapdragon X laptops during the latest Qualcomm event where we met the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The company demonstrated its development on HP EliteBook Ultra Next-Gen AI PCs. The focus of AI Personas is on business laptops. So, the platform was developed with efficiency, responsiveness, and privacy in mind as well.

On device, safe and efficient

“By utilizing Personal AI’s technology on devices that contain our Snapdragon X Series platforms, we’re enabling a new era of security-rich, privacy-focused, and powerful AI experiences directly on Windows PCs. Showcasing our commitment to driving innovation in AI and empowering users with cutting-edge technology that is designed to respect their privacy,” said Rami Husseini, director of product management at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

The capabilities of Personal AI are another clear example of how next-generation developments can bring vast improvements to all fields. They are also proof of the adaptability of AI-powered platforms to almost any requirement. Since the new Snapdragon 8 Elite uses the Oryon cores of the Snapdragon X chips and implements powerful NPUs, we may see similar experiences for mobile devices in the future.
