Carmakers double down on hybrids as Vietnam sales slump – Nikkei Asia


HO CHI MINH CITY — The Vietnam Motor Show started its five-day run in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday with the theme “Technology for a Green Future.” Automakers unveiled a lineup of hybrids in a motorbike-based country where an economic slump has hit sales despite a record spike in electric vehicle deliveries.

Leading brand Toyota launched a hybrid Camry, and told Nikkei Asia it is still deciding when to bring a fully-electric model to the Southeast Asian country.
