Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Selects Commvault – insider.govtech.com

Caltrans was looking to increase their security posture as well as centralize management of their data protection needs to a single, unified solution across their 12 District Offices (DO’s) and Hybrid-Cloud \ Multi-Cloud environment. Commvault Cloud met this need delivering a unified, zero-trust architecture protecting their on-premises workloads across all 12 DO’s, SaaS workloads (M365 and SFDC), and future multi-cloud workloads all while lowering their average run-rate by 33% over a 5 Year Term.

With Commvault Cloud, Caltrans was able to:

  • Consolidate from 24 separate interfaces (2 per DO) to a single interface providing visibility and control over all data protection activities across their Hybrid-Cloud environment.
  • Deliver true, pro-active Cyber Resilience based on the NIST and MITRE frameworks, meeting key initiatives across all 5 phases of Cal-Secure’s order of priority of cybersecurity capabilities.
  • Gain immutable back-ups across all their DO’s, SaaS workloads and future multi-cloud workloads.
  • Leverage AI to strengthen Cyber Resilience with back-up anomaly detection and pro-active, early warning capabilities detecting threats as often as every 5 minutes in production before data is compromised.
  • Have a solution that is FedRamp High Authorized, meeting all the FedRamp High security standards. (only FedRamp High Authorized solution in the industry).
  • Gain rapid, frictionless, reliable recovery with a known, clean back-up from any-location-to-any-location, cross-Hypervisor and cross-Cloud, any-to-any-portability.
  • Gain access to the option to recover into a known, isolated CleanRoom in the cloud to prove recovery, run data forensics or recover from a Disaster or Ransomware attack.
  • Gain access to automated, rapid rebuild of cloud applications after an outage or attack solving a key cyber resilience challenge.

Commvault Cloud’s commitment to Caltrans is to secure their data, meeting the highest of standards. Caltrans’ partnership with Commvault will enable the department to deliver simplified end-to-end management of a modern, streamlined cyber-resilient data protection posture and provide significant ROI now as well as in the future. Commvault is also making the transition painless through Professional Services delivering a White-Glove transition to Commvault Cloud.
