This means you’ll be able to play your existing Switch games on Switch 2 once the console launches next year.

The company’s CEO Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed the news during a Corporate Management Policy Briefing today. He also confirmed that the Nintendo Switch Online service will be available on the upcoming console which is no surprise.
However, it’s unclear if the backwards compatibility only applies to digital games purchased on Nintendo’s online store, or if the Switch 2 will also support physical Nintendo Switch cartridges.
