There have been plenty of reports that Tesla is looking at making its own smartphone. Now the company’s CEO Elon Musk says that this is not the case.
“No, we’re not making a mobile phone,” said Elon Musk during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
However, according to Musk, Tesla would probably be better suited to make a smartphone that is neither Android nor iOS than other companies given the company’s existing software.
“But it’s not something we want to do unless we have to,” he continued. “If Apple and Google Android started doing really bad things, like censoring apps or acting as gatekeepers in a harmful way, then I guess we’d make a phone.”
