UNDATED (WKRC) – Apple appears to have discontinued a popular accessory that some users once considered essential.
According to The New York Post, Apple appears to have discontinued the 3.5 mm Lightning to Headphone Jack Adapter. The publication reported that the once popular accessory appears to have been sold out for an extended period of time on Apple’s US and UK websites.
The Lightning to Headphone Jack Adapter first hit the market back in 2016 around the release of the iPhone 7, which lacked a headphone jack. The jack adapter allowed users to connect to a variety of devices, including wired headphones, speakers and others.
The Post reported that Apple is gradually phasing out the Lightning connector, noting that the iPhone 15 marked the company’s official shift to the USB-C in 2023.
According to the publication, the adapter can still be found in France, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway, among other countries, and can still be purchased through sites like Amazon.
