Having a smart assistant like Alexa in your home can be a game changer. Even without a smart home around her, you’ll be able to easily set reminders, check your calendar, hear the news, and even order things from Amazon. When Amazon finally added smart displays to its smart speaker portfolio, things got even better.
However, if you’ve always felt like the existing smart displays were too small, Amazon has had the Echo Show 15 and just launched a new and improved version. However, even more exciting is the completely new Echo Show 21, bringing the largest smart display that Amazon has ever produced, and I think I like it.
Amazon Improves Upon The Predecessor, Delivering An All-New Echo Show 15
Smart displays are usually stationary, and if you need one that’s mobile, you opt for a more compact model. For most of us though, it’s “the bigger, the better”, and Amazon showed that when it first unveiled the 15.6-inch Echo Show 15. That device had a great response and showed that there was really a market for giant smart displays.
Building on that, Amazon has just released the improved Echo Show 15. The second-gen model builds on some of the complaints that were had with the first-gen model. For instance, Amazon says you get speakers with better sound, an upgrade to a 13MP camera that’s now centered instead of placed away in the corner, Wi-Fi 6E, and Smart Home Hub functionality (Zigbee and Thread support).
That’s a lot more added to the plate. Meanwhile, you still get the great 15.6-inch FHD screen, built-in Fire TV for entertainment, the ability to set up widgets on the home screen as you please, and it can even serve as a digital photo frame. All of this comes for $299.99.
Amazon Launches Its Massive Echo Show 21 Smart Display
However, as much as the Echo Show 15 has been upgraded, it is old news—we’ve seen it before and we already know we like it. How about something more exciting? Amazon decided that 15.6 inches wasn’t a large enough diagonal and decided to amp things up. It has just introduced the Echo Show 21 into its portfolio, and that’s right, it has a 21-inch display.
The device is essentially a supersized version of the Echo Show 21 with its aesthetic. The screen here shares the FHD resolution of the smaller model, which means that the pixel density will be lower. However, it’ll still be just as enjoyable for watching your favorite videos on Fire TV or when using it as a digital photo frame. You still get the ability to control the smart devices in your home and use the 13MP camera for video calls.
And let’s not ignore how much a bigger screen can help with your family’s organization. Your calendar for the day and month is much easier to see, you can add widgets showing the recipe for that night’s dinner, your shopping list, the weather, and more. Plus, Amazon says that information like sports scores, stock prices, and news will soon be available.
Compared to the Echo Show 15, you get a bigger screen and better sound, and all of that comes at the price of $399.99. For a smart device of this size, I really can’t hate that.
