In addition to announcing the Huawei Mate X6 foldable, Huawei has also launched four Mate 70 smartphones. This is the company’s new flagship series, by the way. The Huawei Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 Ultimate Design have been announced.
The Huawei Mate 70 series has landed, as four different models arrived
Three out of four of these smartphones are quite similar in terms of design, actually. All variants but the Mate 70 RS model, as that one has a different design.
The Huawei Mate 70 has flattish sides, while the other three have slightly rounded frames. The devices are made out of metal and glass. All of their physical buttons sit on the right-hand side, while a circular camera island sits on the back of all models but the ‘RS’ unit.
That camera island does come in different sizes and different cameras, based on the model. It also protrudes on the back quite a bit. On the front, you’ll find three display camera holes on all four models.
HarmonyOS NEXT comes pre-installed on all four of these devices. That is Huawei’s very own OS, and it’s not based on Android. Generative AI is a part of the package, as is a Large Language Model (LLM) to power the phone’s voice assistant. Huawei also has a ton of AI embedded into generative images, video editing, and so on.
The pricing for the Huawei Mate 70 series starts at CNY5,999 ($827) in China, though the price tags will be considerably different globally.
The Huawei Mate 70 is the smallest in the family
The Huawei Mate 70 comes in black, green, purple, and white colors. It measures 160.9 x 75.9 x 7.8mm, while it weighs 203 grams. There is a 6.7-inch 2688 x 1216 LTPO AMOLED display included on the device.
This phone comes with 12GB of RAM and three different storage models, all the way up to 1TB. A 50-megapixel main camera offers variable aperture (f/1.4-f/4.0) and OIS. A 50-megapixel ultrawide camera is also a part of the package, as is a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto unit.
A 5,300mAh battery is included inside of this phone. The device supports 66W wired, 50W wireless, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. It is IP68-certified for water and dust resistance. It also has Bluetooth 5.2 and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro is not that dissimilar from the ‘Pro+’ model
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro comes in the very same colors as the vanilla model. It measures 164.6 x 79.5 x 8.2mm, and weighs 221 grams. There is a 6.9-inch display included here, with a 2832 x 1316 resolution. It’s an OLED LTPO display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
This phone also includes 12GB of RAM and it also comes in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture, OIS) is included on the back, as is a 40-megapixel ultrawide unit. A 48-megapixel periscope telephoto camera sits on the back too. A 3D camera for facial scanning is located on the front.
There is a 5,500mAh battery included here, while the phone supports 100W wired, 80W wireless, and 20W reverse wireless charging. It is IP68 certified, it includes an in-display fingerprint scanner, and Bluetooth 5.2 is supported.
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ is the most powerful unit, not counting the ‘RS’ variant
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ comes in black, gray, green, and white colors. Gray and green models have a gold frame, while the black has a black-colored frame, and the white has a silver-colored frame.
This phone measures 164.6 x 79.5 x 8.25mm and weighs 226 grams. It has the exact same display as the Huawei Mate 70 Pro, but it comes with 16GB of RAM and in 512GB and 1TB storage options.
In terms of cameras, the exact same main and ultrawide units are included, but a slightly better periscope telephoto camera seems to be on board. Not all the details were shared. A 3D facial scanning camera sits on the front.

The Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design does differ from the other in terms of the design
The Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design comes in black, red, and white colors. It has a completely different-looking camera island, which has an octagonal shape. The backplate is also different, with a vertical protrusion right down the middle.
This phone measures 164.6 x 79.5 x 8.25mm, while it weighs 251 or 256 grams, depending on the model. A 6.9-inch display is used here, the exact same panel as on the Mate 70 Pro and Mate 70 Pro+.
This phone also comes with 16GB of RAM and either 512GB or 1TB of storage. The camera setup is identical to the one on the Huawei Mate 70 Pro+. There is also a 3D facial scanning camera on the front, and an in-display fingerprint scanner too.
