Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chipset was rumored earlier this year to be the company’s answer to the Apple A19 chip, and a rumor from earlier this week says Samsung was considering its cancellation. That is apparently not the case.
While there’s still no official timeframe on the Exynos 2600 release or any official information about what devices will use it, it seems that Samsung is still moving forward with its production. The rumor about the cancellation was initially posted on X, which was then picked up by news outlet Gizmochina. It stated that Samsung was facing manufacturing challenges with its 2nm chip process. This was reportedly resulting in Samsung’s consideration of stepping back from the Exynos 2600 manufacturing.
According to Samsung, however, the details about the Exynos 2600 aren’t true.
Samsung refutes the Exynos 2600 cancellation rumor
According to a Samsung spokesperson, these claims couldn’t be further from the truth. “I can confirm that the claim that Exynos 2600 production is being canceled is not true and is based on groundless rumors,” a Samsung spokesperson told Android Headlines.
There’s nothing mentioned about the challenges with the 2nm chip manufacturing process. That being said, even if Samsung is having challenges with manufacturing, that apparently isn’t stopping it from working on this chipset and getting it ready for future devices. As of now, the Exynos 2600 is rumored to be powering the Galaxy S26. If that turns out to be true, it isn’t clear if this will end up being all models or just the ones for certain regions.
Samsung has historically used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips for its flagship phones in the US and most other markets. And right now, there’s no reason to suspect that it won’t continue to do so.
Full steam ahead
At this time it’s not possible to nail down when exactly the Exynos 2600 will debut. With Samsung stating that cancellation of this production isn’t happening, however, there’s a chance that the chip will see a release sometime in 2026. As this is the year the Galaxy S26 lineup should be launching. In terms of specifications, there’s little known about the chip outside of speculation. It’s said to be on Samsung’s 2nm process.
At least one rumor from the Samsung forums back in May suggests that it could also come with an in-house designed graphics processing unit. This would be a significant change for Samsung. Past Exynos chips have typically used AMD GPUs. Moving to an in-house GPU would allow Samsung to reduce its reliance on outside parties.
That being said, there’s no confirmation (obviously) that this is happening either. For now, it’s complete speculation. What has been confirmed is that the Exynos 2600 manufacturing is going full steam ahead.
