Xiaomi has announced a new high-end Redmi smartphone and the company’s first Redmi-branded device with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. That device is called the Redmi K80 Pro, and it launched alongside the Redmi K80 in China.
The Redmi K80 Pro is Xiaomi’s new high-end Snapdragon 8 Elite smartphone
Let’s focus on the ‘Pro’ model, though, as that one is far more interesting. The device is made out of metal and glass, and it is flat all around. Only its corners are rounded. Its front and back sides are flat, as is its frame.
All the physical buttons sit on the right side, your usual power/lock + volume rocker setup. On the back, you’ll notice a circular camera island in the top-left corner. Three cameras sit in there, more on that later.
This smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite and comes with 12GB, 16GB, or 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM, depending on the model you choose. Three storage options are also on offer, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB UFS 4.0 flash storage models, depending on which RAM model you choose.
The phone also uses a 2K 120Hz AMOLED display that gets immensely bright when needed
A 6.67-inch 3200 x 1440 AMOLED display sits on the front. That panel offers a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2,160Hz touch sampling rate. Its peak brightness is 3,200 nits, and HDR10+ content is supported, as is Dolby Vision.
There are two nano SIM card slots here, while HyperOS 2.0 comes pre-installed. The device is IP68 and IP69 certified for water and dust resistance. It comes with stereo speakers and supports Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7. An ultrasonic fingerprint scanner sits under the phone’s display. There is also an infrared sensor at the top.
A 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery is included inside of this phone. The device supports 120W fast wired charging, and 50W wireless charging.
There are three cameras included on the back
A 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.55-inch Light Fusion 800 sensor, f/1.6 aperture, OIS + EIS) is backed by a 32-megapixel ultrawide unit (Samsung S5KKD1 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 120-degree FoV), and a 50-megapixel floating telephoto camera (2.5x optical zoom, 10cm macro). A single 20-megapixel camera sits on the front.
The Redmi K80 Pro measures 160.26 x 74.95 x 8.39mm, while it weighs 209 grams. The ‘Champion Edition’ of the phone is a bit heavier at 212 grams.
This device comes in Mountain Green, Mysterious Night Black, and Snow Rock White colors, plus the ‘Champion Edition’, which is a special edition of the device.
The Redmi K80 Pro pricing starts at CNY3,699 ($511) in China, while it goes all the way up to CNY4,999 ($691). There’s still no work on its global availability.
