Apple is gearing up to release its highly anticipated iOS 18.2 update next month, which will come with some pretty major changes. Some of the new additions will transform various aspects of the operating system and how you use them. For instance, ChatGPT integration will change the way you use Siri, and Genmoji will allow you to create custom emojis using AI. However, the company’s existing emojis would still be present, and as it appears, an artist has managed to transform the iPhone’s running shoe emoji into an actual product.
Designer takes design cues from Apple’s running shoe emoji and makes a product around it worth $220
Some of Apple’s emojis are pretty popular among users, and the running shoe emoji is one of them, allowing people to portray their emotions in a more profound manner. According to The Verge, an artist and designer, Jose Wong, managed to create real running shoes that look identical to Apple’s running shoe emoji. The product will be available to the public in sizes 5 and 12 and will be called “The Shoe 1.” As for the pricing, the designer is charging $219.90 for the pair, and you can buy it online.
If you are not familiar with history, Apple’s running shoe emoji was inspired by the New Balance 547, the version of the shoes worn by Apple’s late CEO, Steve Jobs. The New Balance logo in the emoji was replaced by two strokes, and the designer replicated the same with design elements inspired by New Balance 547 and Apple products. While the design of the product is pretty similar, the designer decided to put the impression of the iPhone’s internal components on the sole of the shoes, which is quite neat and keeps the spirit of the product alive.
The shoes feature an upper section made of full-grain nubuck leather combined with mesh for breathability, while the midsole and heel are made from lightweight EVA foam paired with a polyurethane rim to deliver a mix of comfort and “all-day support.”
On the outside, the packaging is quite minimal and comes with an envelope that reads: Designed By Josewong in China. Wong states that the shoes will begin shipping next week, so if you are up for it, you can check out more details on the product here. Take note that all purchases will be “final,” and there will be no refunds made afterward if you do not like them. While the product is unique and offers a piece of Apple memorabilia, it remains to be seen what customers think of it. We will keep you posted on the story, so be sure to stick around.
