Google Assistant's Quick Phrases glitch is troubling Pixel phone owners

Google Assistant’s Quick Phrases is an exclusive feature available on the Pixel 6 and newer models, including the Pixel Fold. You can say “Stop” or “Snooze” when you want alarms or timers to go off. Besides, you can use voice commands like “Answer,” “Decline,” and “Silence” for an incoming call. But, it seems some Pixel owners are reportedly facing a persistent Quick Phrases glitch leaving them with annoying toast notifications on their screen.

The Quick Phrases feature is troubling Pixel phone owners with an annoying glitch

Folks over at 9to5Google recently spotted multiple Reddit posts with Pixel owners complaining about the Quick Phrases glitch. Most users associated this issue with the Google Assistant’s “Say Stop” prompt. The publication notes that the toast notification refuses to disappear even after a user turns off the alarm or timers.

What’s worse is that the prompt is also visible even on the lock screen. A Reddit user spotted this glitch on Googe Pixel 8 running Android 15. It’s worth noting that the persistent issue isn’t related to a specific device or software version. The Pixel phone users on stable and beta versions of Android 15 are reportedly facing this problem.

Not to forget, similar issues were recently reported on one of the models from the Google Pixel 9 series. The Pixel 9 Pro XL owners are reportedly experiencing this issue post answering calls. The “Say Answer” prompt which is supposed to disappear after ending a call apparently sticks around and covers up that area of the screen. That’s not all, it even covers caller ID sometimes making it hard to see who’s calling.

Some possible workarounds to resolve the issue

The Google app is likely the source of the issue because it powers the Google Assistant. That said, some Reddit users have suggested a few quick workarounds to resolve the issue. The persistent toast notification glitch appears to be fixed after restarting the latest Google Pixel 9 Pro or other models.

Some users also hinted that they could resolve the issue by disabling certain toggles by going to the Quick Phrases menu. You can also try force-stopping the Google app and opening it again to see if it helps. If nothing helps, you can stop using the Quick Phrases feature until Google rolls out a fix.
