Following the headline-grabbing (maybe not for the right reasons) releases of Morbius and Madame Web, viewers can experience the origin story of yet another villain in the Sony Spider-Man universe.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as Kraven the Hunter, who sets out on a path of vengeance driven by his complex relationship with his ruthless estranged father, Nikolai Kravinoff, played by Russell Crowe.
Undoubtedly many fans will be eager to see Kraven the Hunter on the big screen. However, with competition from Wicked, Gladiator 2 and upcoming releases such as Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Mufasa, you may not get a chance to visit the cinema for this one.

How to watch Kraven the Hunter now
You only have one day to wait, as Kraven the Hunter drops in cinemas tomorrow, Friday 13 December 2024. You can get your tickets from Vue, Cineworld and Odeon in the UK, and from AMC Theatres, Fandango and Atom Tickets in America.
For now, this will be the only place you’ll be able to watch the film. You can watch the official trailer below:
When could Kraven the Hunter be released on VOD?
Kraven the Hunter’s digital release date entirely depends on how it performs at the box office.
If we used Venom: The Last Dance as an example, this film arrived on VOD just under two months after releasing in cinemas, with decent box office numbers. At the other end of the spectrum, we have Madame Web – which took just a month after its disastrous (though very meme-able) performance.
Early reviews of Kraven the Hunter on Rotten Tomatoes are far from promising, with just 14% on the Tomatometer at the time of writing from critics who’ve seen it early. Deadline is also predicting a rather weak opening weekend, unsurprising given the competition mentioned earlier.
Based on that, it seems likely that Kraven won’t be the hit Sony was hoping for, so we’d expect it to drop on VOD as early as the first half of January 2025. Of course, this is just an estimation, and we don’t yet know the official numbers. It may be later if it performs better than expected.
When could Kraven the Hunter be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Sony films typically drop hard copies around a month and a half after the VOD release, as was the case with Venom: The Last Dance and Madame Web.
If Kraven the Hunter does hit our predicted digital release date, then we’d expect it to be available on DVD and Blu-ray around the end of February/early March 2025.
When could Kraven the Hunter be released on streaming services?
There is an agreement between Sony and Netflix that means the studio’s films are released on this streaming service a minimum of 120 days after theatrical release. However, in recent months this time window has been even shorter.
Madame Web is a prime example, arriving just three months after landing in cinemas. As mentioned earlier though, this film was a huge flop.
If Kraven the Hunter performs similarly to Madame Web, we could see it drop on Netflix as early as March 2025. It could arrive later, but either way, it will likely be in the spring of next year.
