Samsung Polishes One UI 7 With Second Beta Update

Early in December, the first One UI 7 beta update started already rolling out in Germany, South Korea, the UK, and the US. It recently expanded to India and Poland as well, where you can now download it immediately through the Samsung Members app and your settings menu. As of today, another update is available for the Galaxy S24 series with fixes several problems.

Fixes for the Now Bar and more

The second One UI 7 Beta update, Version ZXL5, has arrived. It’s roughly 1067MB large, and addresses issues you may be familiar with across the new Now Bar feature, wireless DeX connections to some TVs, and Game Booster. The Now Bar feature was supposed to provide quick access to ongoing tasks, but some users noticed that it continued to display even after closing it.

Then there’s Wireless DeX, which allows you to connect your Galaxy phone to a TV and use it like a desktop. However, some users experienced problems when trying to connect to some TVs, resulting in no connection.

According to Samsung’s change log, they’ve also made the following improvements:

  • Resolved an error where the personal app drawer wouldn’t display correctly.
  • Corrected the transparency issue in the Samsung Reminder app’s home screen widget (app update required).
  • Improved the speed of switching between apps in the Recents screen.
  • Enhanced the entry speed for Smart Select in the Edge Panel.
  • Fixed the occasional reset issue when using power-saving mode.
  • Improved the accuracy and performance of the GPS function.
  • Resolved errors with the Quick Panel’s operation.
  • Added the option to adjust screen refresh rate within the Game Booster.
  • Fixed call termination and freezing issues with the Samsung Messages app.
  • Corrected the background color issue in the Weather widget.
  • Fixed Wi-Fi and NFC connection problems when setting them as routines.

Samsung is taking its time to clean up One UI 7, and we love to see it. Even the “Secured by Knox” watermark in the app drawer is gone. Tiny a detail as it was, it was an unnecessary visual element that cluttered up the interface.

More Beta updates are on the way

Without a doubt, Samsung will continue to improve One UI 7 until it’s ready for public release. It looks like the updates will come more frequently than expected. The brand’s support team shared a tentative roadmap for the beta rollouts specifically for India and other countries.

  • December 23, 2024: Beta 2 for Phase 2 countries, Beta 3 for Phase 1 countries.
