Forget Netflix. Apple TV+ is the streaming service you need for the holidays right now – NJ.com

Apple TV+ is growing at an unprecedented rate. In just a few years, it’s gone from being another expendable face in the crowd to becoming most successful streaming services on the market.

The service is also shockingly afforadable — just $9.99 per month — and it features tons of original content. There’s even live sports!

Here’s a look at some of the most popular shows Apple TV+ offers:

“Shrinking” – Jason Segel plays a therapist struggling to process the recent death of his wife. Harrison Ford plays another therapist struggling with Parkinson’s Disease. The show is somehow as funny as it is dark.

“Silo” – Rebecca Ferguson stars as an engineer attempting to unravel the secrets of the futuristic post-apocalypse in which she lives. The less you know going into the series, the more you’ll enjoy it.

“Bad Sisters” – A new family dramedy from the brilliant Sharon Horgan about five sisters in Dublin trying to dodge a life insurance investigation into the death of one of their husbands.

“Ted Lasso” – A wholesome sports comedy series in which Jason Sudeikis plays a charming, optimistic American college football coach who ends up at the helm of an English soccer team.

“Pachinko” – An adaptation of Min Jin Lee’s masterpiece in which generations of a Korean family confront the difficulties of immigrating to Japan.

“Severance” – A psychological thriller in which an employee of the mysterious Lumon Corporation undergoes a medical “severance” of his work and non-work memories.

“The Morning Show” – Although not the most critically acclaimed show, this was Apple TV+’s first major original series. It stars Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.

(It’s also the only place to watch the Charlie Brown holiday specials.)

In addition to all these shows, with a subscription, you can get up to six viewer profiles, with tons of curated selections for adults and kids, the option to download content, and the ability to stream across many devices.

How to get an Apple TV+ free trial

Any and all Apple TV+ subscriptions involve free trials.

Anyone can sign up for a 7-day free trial by simply going to Apple TV+’s website.

There is also a three-month free trial of Apple TV+ made available for qualified returning subscribers who buy a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, or Mac.

Target Circle members are also eligible for three months free of Apple TV+.

How much does Apple TV+ cost?

Apple TV+ costs $9.99 per month, which is much lower than other major streaming services, like Netflix, Hulu and Max (formerly known as HBO Max).

Netflix, for example, costs anywhere from $10-$20 per month, depending on the plan. And Hulu ranges from $8/month (with ads) to $18 (with no ads) to $77 for Hulu + Live TV. Max is $10/month (with ads) and $16/month (ad-free).
