Galaxy S25 might have Qi2 support, but only through a case – SamMobile – Samsung news

A couple of years ago, the Qi2 wireless charging standard was announced, featuring Apple’s MagSafe magnetic alignment system for added comfort. It was reported that the Galaxy S25 might feature Qi2, but there could be a catch.

Qi2 logo requires magnets, and Galaxy S25 might support it only through a case

A few days ago, the first-party Galaxy S25 accessories list was leaked. It included a ‘Magnet Case,’ which led everyone to believe that the Galaxy S25 will feature Qi2 wireless charging. However, there is no clarity on whether the phone will support MagSage-like magnetic alignment through Qi2. Now, some clarification has been issued on that front.

Qi2 Wireless Charging Logo

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which governs the Qi standard, has confirmed (via Android Police) that any device with a Qi2 logo features the Magnetic Power Profile (MPP). The MPP is a magnetic alignment system derived from Apple’s MagSafe standard.

The Galaxy S25 might not feature the Qi2 logo, which means it can still charge at 15W but not have magnetic alignment. However, Samsung’s ‘Magnet Case,’ which leaked recently, might have a Qi2 logo and a magnetic alignment system.

So, if you want to use Qi2 accessories, like wireless chargers, power banks, and wallets, you might have to buy Samsung’s first-party Magnet Case. This is similar to the OnePlus 13, which lacks Qi2 MPP but has first-party cases with magnetic alignment.

It would be great if Samsung could bring proper Qi2 support to its high-end phones in 2026. That would make them compatible with useful accessories like power banks, mounting systems, wallets, pop sockets, holders, and wireless chargers.
