Acer has plenty of stuff to show off at CES 2025, including two new gaming handhelds and five new gaming laptops, two of which are variations of the new Nitro V 15. The new laptops won’t be part of Acer’s more powerful Predator line. Rather, they’ll be part of the Nitro V line, targeting more of the entry-level space.
The laptop sizes start at a more portable 14 inches and go all the way up to 17 inches. So depending on your personal preferences, there’s something for everyone, at least when it comes to screen sizes. If you’re looking for something at the top end when it comes to performance, Acer will likely have something for you eventually. But none of these new Nitro laptops are coming with the most powerful GPUs. In fact, all five of them use the same GPU, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4050.
Acer used these cards in some laptops all the way back in 2023. So they’re definitely on the older side by a couple of years. This pairs with newer CPUs and lots of DDR5 RAM though. You won’t be able to run high-end games at max settings, but any of these laptops should still be powerful enough to play even the most recent titles with decent enough graphics.
Acer makes AI gaming more accessible with the 2025 Nitro V line
In terms of specifics, all but one of the laptops is powered by AMD CPUs. But all the chipsets offer AI integrations and features to some degree. The Acer Nitro V 17 AI, 16 AI, and 14 AI have either the AMD Ryzen AI 7 350, or the Ryzen AI 5 340, the difference between them being 8 cores and 6 cores respectively. Meanwhile, the Acer Nitro V 15 AI comes with AMD’s Ryzen 7 8845HS, or Ryzen 5 8645HS. Meanwhile, the non-AI version of the Nitro V 15 will come with either the Intel Core 7 240H or the Intel Core 5 210H.
All of the laptops will offer up to 32GB of RAM as well as up to 2TB of storage space. Additionally, panel resolutions will start at FHD and go all the way up to QHD+ depending on the laptop size. Battery size is mostly the same across the board at 76Wh, with only the Acer Nitro V 15 coming in with a slightly lower capacity at 56Wh. Each laptop also comes with a wide range of ports.
Pricing and availability isn’t confirmed for the US market
Acer does state that these laptops are entry-level, so US pricing isn’t going to be outlandish. However, it hasn’t shared any official prices for the North American market just yet. Acer does mention pricing for the EMEA though, and prices start as low as EUR 849 for the Nitro V 15 AI. So that should give consumers some idea of what to expect.
In terms of availability, four of the laptops are confirmed to be coming to the US. This includes the Nitro V 17 AI, V 16 AI, and V 14 AI in July, and the Nitro V 15 AI in February. Acer says it will confirm whether or not the Nitro V 15 is coming to the US closer to its launch date. While Acer doesn’t mention US pricing, it does confirm each laptop will come with a nice little bonus. Three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at no additional cost. A win for gamers.
