PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Two people were detained after a stolen SUV smashed into a police car on Saturday morning in southeast Portland, according to police.
Just after 11 a.m., officers responded to Southeast 60th Avenue and Southeast Francis Street after someone reported seeing a man and a woman slumped over inside the SUV.

Police said the couple then sped away “recklessly” on a wheel worn down to the rim, ultimately crashing into a parked car at Southeast 34th Avenue and Southeast Insley Street.
The man, who police said was riding in the passenger seat, was allegedly carrying a stolen gun in his lap while the woman was allegedly driving.
Both people were detained and then checked for injuries at the hospital.
The man was identified as 24-year-old Jacob Kyle Richardson and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and faces charges related to unlawfully possessing a gun and theft.
The woman had not yet been booked as of writing, according to police.
