Hyundai starts selling vehicles through Amazon Autos – Automotive Logistics

Hyundai has started selling vehicles through the Amazon Autos website, which was launched on December 10 last year. The carmaker said last week that buyers can browse, order and finance any new Hyundai model on the website and pick it up from participating dealerships across 54 US locations. Those locations represent 71% of Hyundai’s sales volume. Hyundai is the first and currently only brand available on Amazon Autos.

The move reflects the growing adoption of online platforms for vehicle sales by carmakers and consumers, a trend that was boosted during the Covid crisis. Omnichannel purchasing, using a mix of online digital tools and traditional dealers, is more common since Covid and is defining a new role for dealers. It is also opening up opportunities for new finished vehicle logistics services.

Hyundai said that Amazon Autos created another way for Hyundai dealers to build awareness of their inventory and offer more convenience to their customers. The carmaker said that additional dealer participation, markets and functionalities will be added throughout 2025.

“We’re thrilled to be the first brand enabling our dealers to sell vehicles through Amazon Autos,” said José Muñoz, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor. “This collaboration allows customers to conveniently discover, learn about and purchase their preferred Hyundai model from their local dealer through one of the world’s most trusted shopping experiences.”

The facility offered by Hyundai includes providing customers with a trade-in value for their existing vehicle. Those customers answer a set of questions about the vehicle’s condition and upload images of their car. The value is provided by an independent third-party and can then be applied towards purchasing the new car through Amazon Autos.
