A San Francisco state court on Wednesday denied Apple’s motion to strike class allegations in a putative gender-based discrimination class action representing more than 12,000 current and former female Apple employees.
After a hearing held on Jan. 15, Judge Ethan P. Schulman of the Superior Court of California in San Francisco issued a decision rejecting Apple’s motion to strike and overruling, in part, and sustaining, in part, Apple’s motion to dismiss the complaint, which alleges that the Big Tech giant created a hostile work environment for women and that its hiring policies perpetuate historical gender-based pay disparities.
