MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office has taken a man into custody after leading deputies on a chase.
On Thursday, January 23, 2025, one of the deputies initiated a stop on a vehicle that was reported stolen.
According to the sheriff, the deputy tried to pull the car over, but the driver took off instead of stopping, leading to a high-speed pursuit that lasted for a while. The chase put both our citizens and deputies in danger. During the pursuit, the suspect rammed several of the deputies’ vehicles.
After a lengthy chase, deputies struggled with the suspect to get him into custody. The deputies used necessary force to make the arrest safely; the suspect did not suffer any serious injuries.
Deputies searched the car and recovered narcotics, a key fob programmer commonly used to steal cars, and a large number of additional key fobs, which are tools typically associated with car theft.
The suspect, Michael Siggers, is from Memphis and has an extensive criminal record, including charges for aggravated assault, multiple larceny offenses, drug-related crimes, weapons possession, resisting arrest, and a long list of traffic violations.
