The Samsung Galaxy A56 is on its way. If Samsung ends up sticking to its release cycle, this smartphone should arrive at some point in March. With that being said, the Galaxy A56 will become a direct successor to the Galaxy A55. That phone is basically one of Samsung’s best-known mid-range devices, if not the best-known. It’s also one of the company’s best-selling smartphones.
Samsung’s Galaxy A series is in general quite popular with consumers, and especially the A30 and A50 series phones. At this point in time, we do have plenty of information about the Galaxy A56, so it’s time to do a preview article for you. Let’s see what the phone will end up offering, well, at least based on rumors and leaks that we’ve seen thus far, including some exclusive information from us. Let’s get to it.
This article will be regularly updated with new information on the Samsung Galaxy A56 (this is a preview article) — both official teasers and credible leaks, rumors, and insider claims — as it becomes available in the run-up to the release of the upcoming Android smartphone. This is the original posting of the article.
When will the Samsung Galaxy A56 be released?
The Samsung Galaxy A56 will most likely arrive in March 2025. Samsung did not confirm anything just yet, nor did any specific information regarding the launch date leak. However, both the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A55 arrive around mid-March, one in 2023 and the other in 2024. So, Samsung does have a release cycle for this smartphone series, which leads us to believe this one will follow in March 2025, most likely mid-March. That’s our best guess thus far, but some specific info may yet appear.
What models are coming?
The Samsung Galaxy A56 is expected to arrive in both 8GB and 12GB RAM models, just like its predecessor. The phone is also expected to offer either 128GB or 256GB of storage. If the Galaxy A55 is any indication, we may not get only two variants, however. We may see an 8GB RAM model with both 128GB and 256GB of storage, for example. The 12GB RAM variant may be tied to 256GB of storage, though. That’s only an educated guess at this point in time, though.
What color variants will Samsung offer?
No color-related info surfaced thus far. What we can assume, however, is that the device will arrive in a black color, regardless of what its official name will be. That’s what happens with pretty much every Samsung phone, as the black color is usually what sells best. At least three more colors are expected to arrive in addition to that black variant, we just don’t know what they will be. The Galaxy A55 arrived in four colors overall, but Samsung most likely won’t repat those colors.
How much will the Samsung Galaxy A56 cost?
The Samsung Galaxy A56 is tipped to cost £439 in the UK. That is suggested to be its starting price point, for the 8GB RAM model with 128GB of storage. If that ends up being the case, the phone will cost around $550 in the US, most likely. That basically indicates an identical price tag to last year’s model. This is just a rumor thus far, so we cannot be sure of it. Its price tag will be similar to last year’s model, though, that’s for sure.
What will the Samsung Galaxy A56 look like?
We exclusively revealed the design of the Samsung Galaxy A56 back in November last year. The phone’s design will be quite familiar, that’s for sure. We’ve shared CAD-based renders of the device, both in image and video format. The Galaxy A56 will definitely look like a cousin of the Galaxy S25. It will feature a flat display, with a centered display camera hole up top. Its bezels will be quite thin around that display, but they will not be uniform. The bottom bezel will still be a bit thicker than the rest.
The ‘Key Island’ sits on the right
The power/lock and volume up and down buttons will be located on the right-hand side of the device. Its volume up and down buttons will sit above the power/lock key. You’ll notice that the physical buttons will be emphasized on the device, via the so-called ‘Key Island’. On the Galaxy A series phones, Samsung basically decided to push those buttons a bit out of the regular frame line by gradually raising the frame towards them, as you can see in the provided images. It’s a design decision, nothing else. This does not really serve a special purpose. It would make more sense if the power/lock key had a different feel compared to the volume up and down buttons.
Flat is the name of the game
In any case, the frame will be flat all around, except for the ‘Key Island’. You will not get an audio jack here, while a Type-C port will sit at the bottom. The back side of the phone will also be flat, with three cameras included in the top-left corner. Those three cameras will be a part of the same camera island, and they will be vertically oriented. The camera island will protrude on the back. Samsung is expected to utilize aluminum and glass to make this smartphone, as was the case with the Galaxy A55.
What specs will the Samsung Galaxy A56 have?
We still don’t have the complete picture when it comes to the Galaxy A56 specifications, but quite a few details surfaced thus far. First and foremost, the Exynos 1580 SoC from Samsung is tipped to fuel this smartphone. That is the company’s mid-range chip that was announced back in October last year. Samsung will pair that with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. Different combinations of the two may be available, based on what we’ve seen with the Galaxy A55.
The device is said to feature a 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED display with a fullHD+ resolution. We still don’t know its size, but a 6.7-inch panel is rumored. That display will be flat, by the way. A 5,000mAh battery is also tipped, while the phone is said to feature 45W wired charging. A charger almost certainly will not be a part of the package, though, so chances are you’ll need to buy one separately.
The Galaxy A56 will not support wireless charging nor reverse wired or wireless charging. What about the cameras? Well, based on rumors, A 50-megapixel main camera will sit on the back, along with 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel snappers. That 12-megapixel camera will likely be an ultrawide unit, while a 5-megapixel camera may be a macro camera, if the Galaxy A55 is any indication. A 12-megapixel selfie camera is also rumored.
Android 15 will come pre-installed on the device, along with One UI 7. Its predecessor was guaranteed to get 4 major Android updates, so we’re expecting at least that with the Galaxy A56, if not 5 years’ worth of major Android updates.
Should you wait to buy the Samsung Galaxy A56?
If it’s between the Samsung Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A56, in this point in time, yes, you should probably wait. This new phone will get a newer and more powerful chip, along with several other upgrades. If its launch was not so close at this point, the Galaxy A55 may be worth getting, but at this point, you may as well wait if it’s not urgent. There are many other phones available for a similar price, so… you have options, like the Pixel 8a and OnePlus 13R, speaking of the US. It’s up to you, but the Galaxy A56 may be worth the wait.
