It’s now possible to drop the ChatGPT AI chatbot a voice message or share an image through WhatsApp.
OpenAI has just taken to X (formerly Twitter) to announce a couple of new intriguing features for its popular AI chatbot. It’s now possible to share images with and even talk to ChatGPT through voice messages, all using the regular WhatsApp interface on your phone.
OpenAI first started integrating its AI services into WhatsApp in December, though initial interactions were limited to text exchanges, followed by direct voice calls. Users in the US and Canada can get 15 minutes of free ChatGPT talk time per day, together with an unspecified daily limit on WhatsApp messages.
And no, it’s not possible to add ChatGPT to your group messages which is a shame, because it sounds like a particularly creative way to get yourself booted out of that annoying family or work thread.
How do I drop ChatGPT a WhatsApp?
If you live in a country where ChatGPT is available, you can contact ChatGPT through WhatsApp by adding 1-800-ChatGPT (that’s 1-800-242-8478 in strictly numerical terms) to your contacts.
It’s the life-dominating AI app crossover you never knew you needed, and there’s more where that came from.
According to the original OpenAI post, you’ll soon be able to link your ChatGPT account (whether that’s Free, Plus, or Pro tier) to WhatsApp for even more AI-based interaction.
If the thought of AI infecting your WhatsApp life is causing you some concern, rest assured that the company is looking into the potential downsides.
Back in November, it emerged that the latest WhatsApp beta contained the ability to perform a reverse image search for any photo sent to you through the app, hopefully establishing their veracity.
