When it comes to its flagships for 2025, Samsung is halfway there. It has already served us with the Galaxy S25 series (which mostly seems like a reheated S24 series), but it still has its foldables left in the chamber. We expect those devices to come in the summer months.
The Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 brought only a few upgrades when compared to their respective predecessors, but early news on the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 point to those coming with even more improvements—though not all of them will be appreciable on the spec sheet. Either way, let’s dive into what 2025’s Z devices are going to bring to the table.
Numerous Leaks on Samsung’s Next Foldables Arrive Courtesy of X Tipster
We’re about to dive into multiple leaks regarding the next generation of foldables from Samsung, but it is important to mention that all of these are coming thanks to PandaFlashPro on X.
It’s always a good idea to take any leaks with a little pinch of salt. Without further ado, let’s get into them.
Expect Better Thermals and an Improved Hinge on the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7
While the Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to power the Z Fold 7 worldwide, it’s not certain if the Z Flip 7 will get a taste of Qualcomm’s latest in any regions or whether it will stick to the Exynos 2500 that Samsung has been trying to push. Either way, the more powerful the chip, the better the cooling that you’ll need. Both foldables are expected to come with larger vapor chambers, so that should mean much better heat management.
The hinge is arguably the most important aspect of a market-ready foldable phone. It seems that both models will be getting improved hinges. They should be more durable and smoother in their function.
Z Fold 7 Will Make Some Improvements to the Display; Flip and Fold Peak Brightness Stays the Same
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the more premium model, and we know it’ll be getting improved ultra-thin glass. With that and the new hinge that we mentioned earlier, the device is expected to minimize its crease visibility. It’ll still be there, but it’s a lot less noticeable.
Both devices are expected to stick to a peak display brightness of 2,600 nits, which could potentially mean that the actual display unit stays the exact same as last year.
New Galaxy AI Features Are Coming to One UI 7.1
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are expected to launch with One UI 7.1, which has been Samsung’s usual formula (most of us are still waiting for One UI 7). Unsurprisingly, that OS update is expected to bring new Galaxy AI features, though there’s little detail on the nature of the features that Samsung is cooking up.
Samsung Could Be Working on a New S Pen Model for Foldables
There’s also word that Samsung is working on a new S Pen, which is “suitable for foldables.” What that means exactly, I’m not sure. It could be much thinner so that it has a lower profile. Or perhaps it has a tip that will cause less potential damage to the foldable screen. The one thing that’s certain is that an S Pen slot is not coming.
Samsung’s 7th-Gen Foldables Will Maintain Their Pricing
Samsung increased the prices of its 6th-generation foldables, and thankfully, we don’t need to worry about another price increase. The 7th-generation devices are going to stick to the same prices, which means $1,099 for the Z Flip 7 and $1,899 for the Z Fold 7.
