Still using a Samsung Galaxy S21 series phone? You’ll no longer receive new security updates every month.
9to5Google reports that Samsung has recently downgraded the Galaxy S21 series to receive security updates only once a quarter. This affects all three handsets that launched in January 2021 – the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra.
However, updates of any description won’t be continuing for long. One UI 7, Samsung’s version of Android 15, is likely to be the last operating system update for the Galaxy S21 series. In addition, the five-year support for security updates will expire in early 2026.
Samsung has promised seven years of updates for both the operating system and security for its recent flagships, starting with 2024’s Galaxy S24 series.
