DeepSeek AI, a popular AI platform based in China, has gained massive popularity due to its advanced capabilities and AI approach. In a very short period of time, the platform has given tough competition to San Francisco-based OpenAI by making its AI model R1 available to everyone for free.

The open-source model is primarily used for research, but it also allows for customisation and can be used for both professional and personal projects. It is available in two different models- DeepSeek-R1-Zero and DeepSeek-R1. If you want to try the new AI model in town, follow these steps. But first, check the system requirements to access the platform.

System requirements:

If you wish to download the DeepSeek application, you will need the following requirements. Linux distributions like Ubuntu 18.04 or later, macOS 10.15 or later, and Windows 10 or later are among the supported operating systems. A multi-core processor, ideally quad-core or more, a high-performance GPU (usually an NVIDIA GPU with CUDA support for AI tasks), and at least 8GB of RAM—though 16GB or more is advised—are among the hardware requirements. Furthermore, an SSD must have at least 50GB of free space; handling large datasets requires more storage.
