Sony unveils 40-minute PlayStation State of Play for February 12

Sony has a new PlayStation State of Play live stream event for February, and it’s going to be available to watch starting on February 12. Sony’s State of Play live streams are generally focused on either one specific game or a few previously announced games, with a few new reveals sprinkled in. That being said, Sony hasn’t announced what tomorrow’s live stream is about. Just that it starts tomorrow.

It also mentions when the stream goes live and where you’ll be able to watch it. Sony says the live stream will feature “news and updates on great games coming to PS5.” Sony adds a little more context here by stating that the stream will celebrate a creative and unique selection of exciting games from studios around the world.

The stream begins promptly at 2PM Pacific Standard Time, and it’ll be available to watch on both the PlayStation YouTube channel and the PlayStation Twitch channel. Although the company doesn’t mention specifics on which games will be shown off, there is going to be something new.

Sony’s February 12 PlayStation State of Play will feature a new game

It’s unclear what the game will be, but Sony will reportedly have at least one new game to show off. This is according to Insider Gaming. What’s more, the publication says the game will also be coming from a brand-new studio. If this is the case, then it is possible a large chunk of the stream will focus on this new game.

The stream will be more than 40 minutes long so there should be plenty of time to reveal updates and new stuff. The last State of Play revealed the announcement trailer for Ghost of Yotei. This was alongside updates to Astro Bot, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, a Dynasty Warriors Origins trailer, and several other details. What viewers shouldn’t expect is a long string of new game announcements. Though anything is possible and Sony could have a few secrets up its sleeve.

Sony could announce release dates for a few upcoming games

There are at least two big games coming to PS5 this year that could make an appearance during the stream. Those games are Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2. Neither of these have had confirmed release dates revealed. That being said, a State of Play would be the perfect time to announce those details. Death Stranding 2 was announced a while back. Ghost of Yotei was announced last Fall. With both of these games coming this year, tomorrow’s stream seems like as good of a time as any to announce the release dates.

That of course, does not mean Sony will reveal this information tomorrow. It isn’t entirely unlikely though. The one thing that’s clear is that tomorrow’s stream is mostly focused on PS5. Sony may also talk about some stuff revolving around PC ports of PlayStation titles. As well as PS VR2.
