OPPO has just released a video that touts the durability and water resistance of the Find N5, which is set to be announced next week. However, they also announced quite a few other details, including the fact that this device is 8.93mm when folded. For comparison, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is 8.2mm thick and the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.3mm. OPPO claims in the video that it is “as thin and light as traditional slab phones” though, they do not mention the weight of this one, yet.
The company also talks about how they set out to find smaller, durable parts. Which would allow the Find N5 to be extremely thin, while remaining durable. It was built on a 7-series aluminum alloy frame, the company selected aerospace-grade aluminum matrix composites and an ultra-thin carbon fiber middle plate, which is able to improve the frame strength by 16%. OPPO used new materials that allowed the hinge to be 50% more wear-resistant, compared to the Find N3. It’s also 36% more robust.
OPPO also confirmed that the Find N5 has a 5,600mAh capacity battery. Which is also incredibly thin. Thanks to the four-sided stacking process, which allowed OPPO to include the thinnest and largest battery in a book-style foldable. OPPO claims that the battery on the Find N5 is enough to get through an intercontinental flight. Well, I’ll be testing that out next week.
Here’s how OPPO got rid of the crease
In this video, OPPO also talked about how they were able to essentially get rid of the crease. Thanks to the flat under-screen supporting structure. This also helps make the phone more durable from drops. OPPO will likely go into more detail during their launch event on February 20, which we will be at, in Singapore.
OPPO also teases IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 protection here, which means water resistance, and even water jet resistance, but still no dust resistance. This effectively means you can put your OPPO Find N5 in the dishwasher, and it’ll be nice and clean when it comes out.
While it may not look like the Find N5 has changed much, compared to the Find N3 on the outside, there are a ton of changes here. And OPPO is ready to take back the crown in the foldable world.
