Bhutan has become the latest country to gain access to SpaceX’s satellite internet service, Starlink, as the company continues its global expansion.

“Starlink now available in Bhutan!” SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on 11 February.

The move is expected to bridge Bhutan’s digital divide, particularly benefiting its remote and mountainous regions where traditional internet infrastructure has struggled to reach. With Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency internet, communities in isolated areas stand to gain significant improvements in education, healthcare, and commerce.

Bhutan has long faced connectivity challenges due to its rugged terrain, limiting access to reliable digital services, reports local media.

Starlink’s satellite technology offers a promising solution by providing seamless internet coverage even in the most inaccessible parts of the country.

Authorities and residents alike are optimistic about the impact of this development, which aligns with Bhutan’s broader efforts to integrate technology into its economy and daily life.
