iPhone 16e appears on Geekbench before going on sale

Apple announced a new iPhone quite recently. The device in question is called the iPhone 16e, and it’s essentially the iPhone SE 4, but with a different name. The iPhone 16e has just surfaced on Geekbench, before going on sale.

The iPhone 16e has popped up on Geekbench, thus confirming its RAM situation

The Apple iPhone 16e will be hitting stores on February 28, so in a week. The pre-orders have kicked off, though, in case you’re interested in getting one. Geekbench has just revealed some additional information for us.

This listing reconfirmed that the device has 8GB of RAM, as yesterday’s report said. Apple did not reveal that info at launch, we all know that Apple doesn’t like to delve into specs all that much.

All four iPhone 16 series smartphones have 8GB of RAM too, and now so does the iPhone 16e. It’s necessary for Apple Intelligence, so it’s not really surprising that Apple went down that road.

The iPhone 16e is identified as ‘iPhone 17,5’ on Geekbench. It’s also worth noting that the iPhone 16e comes with a 6-core CPU, the Apple A18. This phone does have one less GPU core, though, as it offers 4 cores instead of 5.

Apple’s new handset is priced at $599, and it does cut some features from the iPhone 16

The device is priced at $599, which is more than was rumored. Apple also made a number of cuts here, so it’s clearly inferior to the iPhone 16 series. There’s a single camera on the back, and it’s also nerfed.

Technically is the same camera as the one on the iPhone 16, but not all of the features are included. On top of that, MagSafe magnets are not included here, you’ll need to use a case if you’d like to use MagSafe accessories.

The wireless charging is slower here compared to the iPhone 16 series, and more. Here are all the differences compared to the iPhone 16, there are quite a few of them. It’s up to you to decide whether a $200 price cut is worth it.
